Actively working in industry for more than two decades at the time this bio was written, Bert made a choice to pursue his online dream in his spare time a few years back. Having acquired a wide range of experience in the corporate world, personal finance and parenting throughout the years, Bert combined this with his passion for personal development and teaching to develop the vision for JustAskDaddy. A site for anyone looking to grow and ultimately forge a path to a long-lasting family legacy.
How did you get into personal finance and financial planning? What experience do you have?
Well, I’ve always had experience with money, as in, I never had any growing up. This taught me some very valuable lessons early on that would serve as the foundation for my success in personal finance and investing. I learned to value money which taught me to be frugal and save for a rainy day. As a byproduct, I developed great discipline and learned the power of delayed gratification. Most importantly, I had to develop thick skin which helped me ignore what other people said or did.
It wasn’t until I got into college that I learned the importance of compound interest and investing. This is when I went all in on learning everything I could about investments. About five years into my career, I decided to get licensed to both educate and help families protect their assets and invest in their future. I did this for years in the evenings and weekends until my wife and I had our first child. At that point, I focused purely on increasing my own investing knowledge and fine-tuned my investment strategy. JustAskDaddy is simply the continuation as I look to share my knowledge and experience with a broader online audience.
How do you keep up to date with the industry?
I’m an avid reader of various financial and investment newsletters from industry-leading experts and pay for training if I feel it will further my education and literacy on the subject. This may be hard for most people to believe but just a basic understanding of personal finance and investing principles can make them millionaires many times over. The principles that worked 100 years ago still work today and will continue to work in the future. When it comes to investing, you simply need to put into practice some basic principles and stay disciplined.

Yes, you can read about my education and credentials below. I have many years of experience and education on a wide-range of subjects, particularly within the corporate world and personal finance. I have been a parent for more than twenty years and have also been on a journey to become the best version of myself, which has taught me a great deal about personal development and growth principles. This site is a unique blend of all my experience geared to helping families build a great legacy for themselves just like I’ve been able to do with my family.
What is your passion?
My passion is teaching my children everything I know so they can become independent and successful in life. I want them to become the best versions of themselves so they can live fulfilled and peaceful lives. If you’re a parent you know that sometimes your children aren’t always receptive to your message(s) simply because it doesn’t resonate . . . yet. This site helps to bridge this gap for our family.
Yes, this site is for them but now I’ve also made it available to anyone. I know that there are many that could really benefit from this content in these tough times. The vision is for JustAskDaddy to become the go-to source for families that want to succeed together as one collective unit!
